A core flood study was conducted using dolomite cores. CO2 was injected under supercritical conditions at a pressure of 1,300 psi, and at temperatures ranging from 70 to 200°F, and injection rates of 2.0, 3.5 and 5.0 cm3/min. Core effluent samples were collected and the concentrations of calcium and magnesium ions were measured.

Saddle dolomite is a common product of late-stage diagenesis and hydrothermal activity. It has been suggested that during growth Ca enrichment occurs towards crystal edges leading to a lattice expansion relative to face centres. However, backscatter scanning electron microscopy of eight samples has revealed that, instead of edge associated Ca ...

Depositional Setting – Margaree F-70 core and well (L.Eliuk) Set within a lithofacies transition of the F-70 well section from dominantly cleaner dolomite-rich carbonates up into slightly argillaceous limestone-rich carbonates, Margaree F-70 core #1 (3434-3458.7m) also captures a depositional facies transition in
Earlier, coarse white dolomite, texturally similar to regional dolomite cements commonly observed in the Irish Midlands, precipitated from fluids in the temperature range 140 2008C and salinities of 10.313.5wt.%NaCl equivalent. This is comparable with the higher temperature, moderate salinity end-member inferred for the black dolomite.

Dolomite powder is applied in some agricultural lands to increase the pH value of the soil. It is a carbonate material made up of Calcium Magnesium Carbonate. It is also used to neutralize the acid in the chemical industry and also in the agricultural lands. It is also an important ingredient for the production of glass, bricks, and ceramics.

The F-70 core encountered foreslope and reefal limestone and fractured vuggy dolomite in the upper portion of the reservoir. The core was examined and facies described in detail by Les Eliuk. Thin sections were examined and a diagenetic interpretation provided by Jeff Dravis. The core and associated FMI image from F-70 was interpreted by Kevin ...

A large gas reservoir was discovered in the previously unproductive Jurassic-aged Abenaki carbonate margin in 1998. Most of the reservoir porosity is developed in dolostones. These dolostones replaced preexisting wackestones, packstones, and grainstones(?) associated with reefal and adjacent depositional environments. Many dolomites were subsequently recrystallized or dissolved, accounting …

The sandwaves on the southwestern Barents Sea continental margin were first noted from sidescan investigations by Kenyon (1986).The sandwaves occur at c. 475–800 m water depth, and are most prolific in two areas ().Video data acquired under the MAREANO programme () indicated that they are mainly composed of well-sorted sand transported by the Norwegian Atlantic …

dolomite and siderite are 3 to 8% in carbonate sediments and 70 to 89% in dolomitic lenses. Dolomite occurs largely in the cores above 192 m sub-bottom depth, whereas siderite occurs in the cores below 87 m. The distribution and occur-rence of dolomite and siderite have determined the diagenetic zonation of carbonates as Zone I (dolomitic zone ...

Ferroan dolomite with 5.4–9.77 wt.% FeO comprises up to 50–70 modal% of this carbonatite, forming 1–3 mm grains, often in intergrowths with magnetite and apatite (Table 1, an. 5–8). Sometimes the dolomite is altered along microcracks, rims and cleavages and contains less SrO and more FeO (Table 1, an. 13–15). Fine dispersions of ...
