That member then uses those orders to negotiate a better price with the Vendor/Mfg for HIS ...

    8. Roberts, MT. Dec 27, 2019. #1. Hey guys, Looking over my sled after our last ride and noticed some oil on the mag side of the engine case of my pull rope cover. Is this something I should worry about, like a crank seal leaking, or can this be normal? Engine only has about 500 miles on it. J.

I know that guy really knows his stuff, because he used to actually work for Polaris, tought some of their tech schools and has done cranks since before I was born...

  • xlt 600 crank seal question | Snowmobile Fanatics

Discussion Starter · #1 · Sep 20, 2008. I just got a 1997 indy xlt 600. There is an oil leak at the crank on the clutch side. I sprayed the area with starter fluid at idle and there was a very subtle change in the rpm. No oher areas seem to be leaking. I know I have to split the case to replace the crank end seal.

If the fuel pump diaphram goes it usually causes fuel to fill the crank through the impulse line. I believe on the 400 that the impulse runs off of the pto side.

Fill the back side of the new seal and using a plastic syringe from a drugstore, or maybe you have a stock of your own inject it into the bearing a well. Clean off as much of the old grease first. You should need about 30-40 ml of grease. Use some sort of seal grease or o-ring oil on the lip of the seal and the crank.
